FAQ's

How do I get my son/daughter involved?
Easy...Show up!! We believe that if your son or daughter decides to come and check us out they will leave with a passion to come back for more.  We hope to make every teenager who walks through our doors feels important and special, that is one of our main goals at Faith-Westwood.  Another goal of ours is that over time or maybe right away we will get him or her into a Small Group. This is where they can grow faster and ask more questions while getting more personal answers than in our big group setting.

Do you Need My Help?
Yes, we will always need help!  Our mailing list contains nearly 400 students and each one of them deserves to have the personal attention of an adult who will come along side them and demonstrate Christ’s love and care in their life.  If you are interested in serving in a Small Group, a Sunday Discipleship Class, at FISH (Middle School Youth/Confirmation), the Wave (High School Youth) or even with our Youth Choirs (HeavenSound and Soul Seekers); we know that you would be joining a great team of men and women of all ages who desire to serve God and love on kids.

What Happens When I become a Volunteer?

Aside from gaining the eternal indebtedness of our Student Ministries Director, there’s of course tons of free food, great trips and the love and respect of a bunch of teenagers who will one day thank you for helping them to know and follow Jesus Christ.

Get Involved

What’s required of me?
Being a volunteer means that you are committing to serving in one (or more) areas of student ministry which fit both your giftedness and interests.

There’s not much more beyond that, you don’t have to be perfect, have the Bible memorized, be young, be cool or even like hard rock or rap music.  We only ask that you have:

  • A Pulse
  • A Caring Heart
  • A Positive Attitude
  • A Love for God
  • An Interest in Teenagers

Does being a volunteer mean that I’ll lose all my free time?
That’s up to you.  Being volunteer does not mean that you must give all of your time, money and job to our youth ministry (although we wouldn’t say no if you offered).  We understand that some areas of ministry are more time consuming than others.  As a result, we have various areas of ministry you can be involved in.

Support Team – This group does a lot of the background stuff…shopping for youth group, helping with set up and tear down for activities, driving to events and activities.

Leadership Team – This group helps support and lead the staff and volunteers.  We call it the Youth Council.  They are responsible for helping to guide the ministry and keep our Student Ministries Director in line!  Each member of this team is also a Youth Worker…see below

Youth Worker Team – These people serve in anywhere from one to all of the various areas of the student ministry we have at Faith-Westwood.  They serve as small group leaders, confirmation mentors, Sunday Morning Teachers, Choir Sponsors and Trip Chaperones.  This team requires a little more time and energy and works more directly with our students on the “front lines” of the ministry.

What do I have to do to become a volunteer?

  • First, pray about whether or not God is leading you to be a part of this ministry and which area you want to serve in.
  • Second, contact Chad Schuchmann, our Student Ministry Director, and set up a time to meet and learn more about how you can get involved.
  • Third, commit to making a difference?
